Responsibilities

  • Provide grade-level instruction as appropriate for substitute assignments.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and professional.

  • Execute daily lesson plans consistent with the teacher’s guidelines and curriculum.
  • Adhere to all school policies, including emergency protocols.
  • Take attendance and submit required daily reporting.
  • Supplement lesson plans class activities.
  • Create and maintain classroom management.

Job Requirements

Requirements by State

Arizona:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-yr college or university in the U.S.
  • Currently have or will obtain an AZ standard professional teaching certificate or substitute teaching certification.
  • Currently have or will obtain a valid Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

California:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-yr college or university in the U.S..
  • Currently have or will obtain a CA teaching credential or substitute teaching permit.
  • Pass a background check and negative TB test before the hiring date.

Illinois

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-yr college or university in the U.S..
  • Currently have or will obtain an IL teaching license or substitute teaching license.
  • Pass a background check and get fingerprinted before the hiring date.
  • Pass a negative drug test and negative TB test before the hiring date.

New Jersey

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-yr college or university in the U.S..
  • Currently have or will obtain an NJ teaching credential or substitute teaching certificate.
  • Pass a background check and negative TB test before the hiring date.

New York

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-yr college or university in the U.S.
  • Get fingerprinted with the NY State Education Department before the hiring date.

Texas

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-yr college or university in the U.S.
  • Pass a background check and verify through TEA or get fingerprints before the hiring date.

Washington, D.C.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-yr college or university in the U.S..
  • Pass a local and national background check before the hiring date.
  • Complete a work history form and consent to an employment history check before the hiring date.
